Dr. W. Steve Yoon, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist (medical doctor specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of eye disease). He specializes in laser cataract surgery, LASIK, PRK, and corneal surgery. He also treats glaucoma, diabetic eye disease as well as infections and inflammatory diseases of the eye. Dr. Yoon is a skilled and experienced surgeon who has performed thousands of successful eye surgeries. Many patients are seen on a referral basis from other physicians and eye care professionals.
Dr. Yoon grew up in Eastman, Georgia. He completed his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA. He received his medical degree from New York Medical College, one of the oldest private medical schools in the U.S., where he was chosen as a New York Medical College Trustee Scholar awarded to the top 15%. He completed his ophthalmology residency at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City where he served as Chief Resident. He also served as a fellow in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the Lions Eye Institute in Albany, NY, a specialty referral eye center.
Dr. Yoon has researched and published the effects of various medications on corneal sensation; lectured at professional meetings and has also designed diagnostic machinery used in medical and engineering research. With his background in engineering, he has a unique, in depth knowledge of lasers and technology used in ophthalmology. Beyond providing you with excellent medical care, he strives to care for you as a person. Your well-being is always the first priority.
Dr. Krupa Patel, O.D. is a highly trained optometrist who specializes in the treatment of eye disease and peri-operative care. She treats patients with glaucoma, retinal disease, as well as infectious and inflammatory eye disorders. She also sees patients in consultation for cataract and laser vision correction surgery and is involved with their postoperative care.
Dr. Patel grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Loyola Chicago and received her degree in Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry. She has completed clinical rotations in ocular disease, glaucoma, geriatrics, vision therapy, and pediatrics.
In her free time, Dr. Patel enjoys painting, writing, and crafting. She has participated in art galleries in the Chicagoland area and hopes to open her own gallery in the future. She enjoys combining her love for science in both her artwork and writing.
Dr. Patel brings with her a passion for optometry and strives to provide exceptional patient care.
Dr. Wingyin H. Durias, O.D. is a residency trained optometrist specializing in ocular disease. She treats patients with a wide range of eye conditions including glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye, and infectious/inflammatory eye disorders.
From California to Pennsylvania, and then down south to Mississippi, Dr. Durias spent her childhood in many different places. She finally settled down in North Carolina and received her Bachelor of Science from North Carolina State University. She then went on to earn her doctorate of optometry from Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Durias also completed a residency program, this is an additional year of specialized training related to eye disease. She underwent residency training at Salem VA Medical Center in Salem, Virginia. The year spent in residency created a passion in treating patients as a whole: looking at all systems of the body to best treat the eyes and maintain health/prevent disease.
Being a mom, Dr. Durias spends most of her free time caring for her two boys. She loves to take them outdoors to play at parks and also frequents local coffee shops. When she has some time to herself, she enjoys exercising and staying fit.
Dr. Durias understands the importance of having a thorough, thoughtful healthcare provider. She will always listen and care for her patients to the best of her ability.
Dr. Herbert Becker, M.D. is fellowship trained in both Retina as well as Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. He has been practicing ophthalmology for over 20 years. He is a highly trained surgeon who performs extraocular muscle surgeries, vitrectomies, retinal repairs, laser surgeries, and various other ocular procedures on both children and adults.
Dr. Becker was born in Spokane, Washington. He received his medical degree from the University of Washington and completed his ophthalmology residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He then went on to The University of Illinois at Chicago where he finished two separate fellowship programs, one in pediatric ophthalmology and the other in vitreo-retinal ophthalmology. He has been treating patients in the greater Chicagoland area and Rockford since 1998.
Dr. Becker treats children of all ages from the premature infant with retinopathy of prematurity to adolescents with eye misalignment. He also specializes in the treatment of macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.
Dr. Bradley Lemke, M.D. is an oculofacial plastic surgeon who has a vast amount of experience treating surgical problems of the eyelids and orbit such as ptosis, dermatochalasis, eyelid tumors, entropion, ectropion, and nasolacrimal duct obstructions, as well as cosmetic oculoplastic surgery. Dr. Lemke is a nationally recognized oculoplastic surgeon and past president of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
He completed his fellowship in Oculoplastic surgery at Albany Medical Center. Prior to his fellowship, he was a resident in ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He obtained his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
